A Variety of Contraceptives

There are different types of contraceptives: barrier methods, birth control pills, injectable, patches, rings, implantable devices and intrauterine devices. We also offer permanent sterilization methods and others for women who do not plan on having children or more children. 

Choosing the Right Contraception for You:

During your consultation, Dr. Hurtado will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each contraceptive option, information of their use, and effectiveness. Dr. Hurtado will also take into consideration your life, age, health and previous experience, as these factors can affect your overall results. We will go over any pertinent medical history and analyze your current health to determine if you may or may not be suited for certain options. The decision is ultimately yours, but we will help you make the right choice.

Variety Cot

SKYLA

Skyla is an intrauterine device (IUD). It is a small T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus non-surgically. Skyla releases a low dose of hormones and is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy for up to 3 years. No daily pills, monthly refills, or trips to the pharmacy. Skyla only takes minutes to insert during a routine visit. Skyla is FDA-approved and can be safely removed from the uterus at any time if you plan on becoming pregnant or find that you no longer wish to continue using Skyla. 

 

MIRENA

Mirena is an intrauterine device (IUD) that’s over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. It’s made of soft, flexible plastic and placed into your uterus by your healthcare provider during a routine office visit.

TUBAL LIGATION

Commonly referred to “having your tubes tied”, tubal ligation is an option for permanent birth control. The tubal ligation procedures we offer are performed in-office and leave no

scars. 

The Cost of Contraceptives

Cost will vary based on the type of contraceptive chosen. At Clinic for Women’s Health , we accept most private insurances and offer financing and payment plans to help make the payment process more manageable for our patients. Dr. Hurtado can address any questions you may have regarding price and payment options during your initial  consultation.
